Many of our clients train their own staff in the use of AMS REALTIME Products. We can now offer a new service to provide tailored training movies to support your internal training/coaching.

These movies can be based on your real data and can be targeted to any topic on any AMS product you use. Once produced, you will be able to use them in perpetuity to support refresher training and the training of new staff. We can provide the movies in a variety of formats for easy implementation on your network, desktop, or even on your intranet.

The training movies can have "tests" included to allow staff to practice what they have learned and to verify for themselves that they have fully understood the topic covered. Providing a library of these movies will also support learning environments where staff are responsible for their own development, and where they prefer to learn at their own pace.

Creating and maintaining projects via a Work Breakdown Structure is part of many organisation's project management standards. Most planning tools achieve this via selection of activities and clicking on indent/outdent buttons. AMS REALTIME products work this way too. However, we have also provided a handy WBS editor in 6.0.

Additionally, in 6.0, the WBS chart and the Gantt chart are linked in realtime. As you indent in the Gantt chart, you will see the WBS chart change, and as you change the WBS chart, you will see the Gantt chart change.

Existing users of the AMS REALTIME Enterprise Solution, using AMS REALTIME Projects or Microsoft Project, will be able to take advantage of this new facility, by committing their plans to the AMS REALTIME Enterprise Server, opening the plan using AMS REALTIME Enterprise Projects, and accessing the the WBS Tab.

AMS REALTIME Projects - Automatic Act ID formatting and numbering

By default, when creating activities in AMS REALTIME Projects, the Act ID field is left blank for the user to leave or type something in to. It is possible to tell AMS REALTIME Projects to generate an Act ID for you. Starting with an empty schedule/plan, simply...

1. Switch to Table Mode
2. Select the Ext Fields table
3. Create a field called FormatAutoID on a blank line in the Prj. Exts. column
4. In the Prj. Exts. Values column, type in %d (or if you want to prefix the Act ID with your project code, type in P12345-%d, assuming your project code is P12345)
5. Create a new field called NextAutoID on a blank line in the Prj. Exts. column
6. In the associated Prj. Exts. Value column, enter the number 1

Now switch back to Schedule Mode (or table mode), display the Act ID column, create some activities and you will see the Act ID generated for you.
